Cllr Tandy agreed to put an item on the village Facebook page and the post would be highlighted in the next Parish News. Village hall Concernwas expressed over the lack of progresswith the village hall extension for the pre-school and parish council office facility. The formation of a sub-commi�ee tomonitor progress and investigate alternative provisionwould be the subject of a future agenda item. ClosureMembers noted that Chartway Streetwould be closed fromOctober 23 for up to seven days for awater pipe connection. Information about the bus servicewas awaited.

ConsultationMembers considered the consultation document on Planning For The Right Homes In The Right Places and the clerkwas asked to respondwith the aimof reducing the number of houses in Maidstone. Local plan Borough Cllr SteveMunford reported that the local plan had been inspected and found to be sound,with voting due to take place on October 25. He said that if the planwas not approved the countryside could be left open for development. Government penalties could also be imposed for not having a five-year housing policy in place and a 20-year land supply. Thefts Three sheds at a residential property in Chart Hill Road had been broken into and a re-gassing air conditioner system, two drills and other tools stolen. The offenders also a�empted to break into aMercedes van at the
property.At farmbuildings in Plough Wents Road, three chainsaws, two nail guns, a kango, an air rifle and a cooking stovewere stolen. Two 8ftmetal gates had been stolen froma property in Chart Hill Road. Bogus callers Communitywarden Liz Lova� reported on bogus callers and scam phone calls, and reported on herwork within the community. Highways surveyMembers completed KCC’s Highways and Transportation Survey and the clerkwas asked to submit this. Playground The annual inspection report had graded the children’s playground as ‘lowrisk’. Cllrs Peter Forknall and Peter Underdown had repaired the pedestrian gate and other itemswere to bemonitored. The clerkwas asked to provide the insurers with a copy of the report togetherwith details ofwork carried out. Bulb planting The Rotary International Organisation had offered to plant crocus bulbs in the parish (the crocus is the

symbol for the eradication of polio). Members agreed to sites on the village green, Norton Road triangle and the island at the junction of Green Lane and Forsham Lane. Cllr Fi�gerald had been offered 500 bulbs fromthe Dawn Patrol,which could also be planted. Planning training CllrMcLoughlin had a�ended a council planning training session and reportedMBCwas considering the use of professionals for future sessions. Roadmarkings Faded roadmarkings at the junction of PloughWents Road/A274 were reported. Police forumCllr Underwood reported that the Police Forumwas again being reorganised. Dog foulingMany complaints had been received by Cllr Underwood. Buses Cllrs Fi�gerald and Underwood had a�ended a busmeeting – atwhichArriva was not represented – and reported that re- contracting of buseswas due before Christmas. Broadband CllrWaring advised that fibre optic broadbandwas nowavailable to those connected to cabinet. Defibrillator Itwas reported that the defibrillatorwas to stay at Lilypie, as it would bemore secure there. Shop on the GreenMore commi�ee memberswere needed for the Shop on the Green. Relief road CllrMunford spoke about the planned publicmeeting about the Leeds/Langley relief road. Planning The erection of a detached three- bay carportwith a roomabove at Lambs Cross, Chart Hill Road,was approved. Approval had been given for the demolition of a conservatory at Lingfield, Chart Road, and erection of single-storey rear and first-floor side extensions plus a loft conversion incorporating Velux windows. Caravan site Itwas recommended to again refuse change of use of land as a residential caravan site to the rear of Chart View, off Chart Hill. The application had been for for two gypsy families eachwith two caravans, ofwhich nomore than one would be a staticmobile home, together with the erection of two amenity buildings, laying of hardstanding and the formation of a
newaccess.Members requested the application be reported to the planning commi�ee.
East Farleigh
Police No representative fromthe police a�ended. There had been one crime in the lastmonth – the theft of a body panel from aMazdaMX5 parked in St Helen’s Lane on September 6. There is usually a spike in burglaries at this time of year and residents are urged to be vigilant. Youth clubAdamMcKinley, the community supportwarden, a�ended and reported that the youth club in Coxheath was due to start on October 11 andwas open to East Farleigh residents: hewould be contacting the school in this connection. Car park The baymarkings are still outstanding, awaiting a convenient dry period and theweed growth has been sprayed, though newgrowth is now evident. Following some issues about overnight parking and access to the car park for local residents, the parish council hadmetwith the car park a�endant. As a result, his contract had been updated to includeweekends and specifying opening and closing times,which are to be adhered to.A keyed padlock had been purchased, to replace the old onewhichwas code- based. Speedwatch There had been deployments on and September 7 and 26.A new schedulewould nowbe drawn up for the winter. Remembrance Service The annual service will be held on Sunday, November 12, at 10.45 in East Farleigh Church. Council agreedwhowould a�end and the clerk would allocatewhowas readingwhat from the list of the fallen. Shewould also contact Coxheath Parish Council to see if anyonewanted to come. FeteWorking Party TheWorking Party was nowmaking plans for Carols round the Tree on December 9.
