HOSPITAL PHARMACY TEAM OF THE YEAR
ENTRY CAN BE BY NOMINATION OR BY PERSONAL APPLICATION.
Good teamwork is central to successful collaborative work and, as such, this award is designed to recognise best practice throughout hospital pharmacy. We are seeking applications from hospital pharmacy teams which have identifi ed areas in which projects or initiatives are required in order to improve both patient outcomes and general productivity.
The winning team will be one which has excellent communication and collaborative working practices at its centre, combined with evidence of ongoing and dynamic contribution to the healthcare of patients within its wards on a daily basis.
WHO CAN ENTER:
This category is open to all hospital pharmacy teams with a minimum of three team members and which is working in the hospital sector in Scotland across all sectors, including:
• Cancer • Neurology • Respiratory • Dermatology • Rheumatology • Cardiology GENERAL AWARDS CRITERIA:
• Enthusiasm and commitment to the enhancement of hospital pharmacy in Scotland
• Exceptional quality above and beyond what is expected • An ability to overcome challenges in pursuit of goals • How performance has been measured and benchmarked. • Evaluation of project success and patient outcome JUDGES WILL BE LOOKING FOR: • How the team members have established and maintained motivation • Recent examples of a project(s) the team has worked on and the outcomes
• How the team has identifi ed each other’s skill set and how it has structured them to the betterment of the team
• Examples of the methodology employed in day-to-day working life within the hospital pharmacy department
COMMUNITY PHARMACY TEAM OF THE YEAR
ENTRY CAN BE BY NOMINATION OR BY PERSONAL APPLICATION.
This award strives to recognise pharmacy teams that have made a signifi cant contribution to patient outcomes and patient care throughout their local community, while simultaneously demonstrating excellent business acumen and continuous business growth.
The winning team will be one in which every member of the team - pharmacist, medicines counter assistant, dispensing assistant or technician, superintendent pharmacist, pharmacy manager or pre-registration trainee - has played a vital role in delivering a fi rst-class service to the local patients, and which will also be able to clearly demonstrate the benefi ts of collaborative team working.
The award will also be open to those pharmacies who have been working with local communities or charities to develop initiatives, which help to contribute to the wider community whether on a wholly healthcare or overall ‘wellbeing’ basis.
WHO CAN ENTER?
This category is open to all pharmacy teams - either independent or chain - which can clearly demonstrate a successful track record of providing initiatives and projects for the benefi ts of their local patients, in addition to a strong business profi le.

• Evidence of performance being measured and benchmarked, and some evaluation of project’s success. JUDGES WILL BE LOOKING FOR:
The judges will be looking for pharmacy teams which have collaboration and teamwork at the heart of their business, with staff members who actively encourage and support each other.
This teamwork will be evident in the examples put forward of good practice, in which the pharmacy delivered clear benefi ts to patients in the local community.
In particular, the judges will be looking for clearly-defi ned, well-evidenced examples of initiatives and projects, which not only demonstrate innovation, productivity and pharmacy excellence, but which also highlight the vital role played by team collaboration and integrated working. Of special interest to the judges will be those pharmacy initiatives which have helped to provide ‘outreach’ to the community through projects and initiatives that have helped to promote health and wellbeing well outside of the pharmacy walls.
