The November concert by the Rosenethe Singers, under the direction of Kevin Duggan, comprises two works of remembrance - Maurice Durufle’s Requiem and Kevin Duggan’s Kontakion for Bornholm. Using the same structure as Faure’s Requiem, Durufle incorporates plainsong and modal harmonies to create a poignant, timeless atmosphere. As in the Faure, there are baritone and soprano solos, with a centrally placed ‘Pie Jesu’, this time with a cello obligato. Kontakion for Bornholm was written in memory of the tragic events
