Dunblane Primary School P7 Transition and Dalguise by Murray and Zoey P7H
On the week beginning the 11th September 2017 Primary 7 started their transition. Firstly we visited the High School where we were put into groups to do diff erent activities over two days. Our
favourite activities were Treasure
Hunt – where the S6 pupils had made up lots of questions to help us fi nd out more about the High School Building and the Team Building exercises where we had to work together as a team to complete challenges, this helped us to get to know the other children from the diff erent schools.
After the two days we headed on the bus up to Dalguise, it took us just under an hour to get there. When we got there we met the staff , had lunch then went up to our dorms to put our bags away and after it was straight into activities. Over the 3 days we completed The Giant Swing, Raft Building, Burn Walk, Zip Wire, Tree Climb, Vertical Challenge, Challenge Course and the Sensory Trail. Our favourites were the Giant Swing because we were expecting it to be really scary but it was lots of fun and the Raft Building because we liked getting wet and using teamwork to make something.
Some of us enjoyed staying away from home, whilst some of us got a bit homesick but it didn’t ruin the experience for us! We would defi nitely recommend the experience for the P7 pupils next year!
New School Year, New Faces!
Angus and Marcus P7H In August we welcomed Mrs Hosking to Dunblane Primary School as Acting Head teacher for the session 2017/18. She set us a challenge on our fi rst day back to come up with 6 words in each class to share at assembly. When we shared these words Mrs Hosking put them into the computer and created a Word Cloud for our school, the words that were mentioned more often came out as the biggest words in our Word Cloud, the words that came out the biggest were “fun, friendly, healthy and exciting”. When asked about her fi rst impressions of our school Mrs Hosking said “It has been such an exciting term and I’ve learned so much about the children, staff and the school!”
We also welcomed our Primary 1 buddies to school and we’ve loved watching them learn and grow – at fi rst they were really shy but now they feel confi dent in the school and can talk to their teachers easily! We’re really proud of our buddies because they’ve made lots of new friends and their creativity is amazing! We’re looking forward to buddying for the rest of the year!
