Dunblane Centre CHRISTMAS NEwsletter

It’s been a hugely busy autumn at the Centre, which saw an improved term time activity programme, senior citizens’ lunches getting even more popular, new fi tness classes and a pro- comedy night. Our annual birthday party, Funday Sunday, drew in the crowds and we’d like to shout out a special thanks to the volunteers from Queen Victoria School, and the green fi ngered young folk who turned out mouth watering soup from our fi rst allotment crop! Funds raised from this will help us buy new indoor seating for younger kids.

Thank you also to each and every person who has been to classes, bought tickets, enjoyed youth club or even just followed us on Facebook! A massive part has of course been our production of Les Miserables. The Centre was packed out for four sell out performances, and it’s hard to describe how incredible our young cast were. There are few shows more iconic - and diffi cult to perform - than Les Mis and they rose to the challenge with enthusiasm, dedication and tremendous passion. This is the show they wanted to perform, and we are just so immensely proud of every one of them, including all those off stage who made it happen. If you saw it you’ll understand why we ask Pamela Mackie to take a special bow, and thank her for such amazing drive and professionalism.

With Christmas fast approaching we head into panto season, and the craziness which is ‘Jack and the Beanstalk’. From 12-16 Dec our 80-strong young company will perform across two casts. Join us as Jack, Dozy Den, Dame Trott and Buttercup the cow band together to stop the evil Poison Ivy and rescue the princess from the giant’s clutches. Where else could you see dancing ninja skeletons, Queen, glitter, a stroppy harp and more wigs than any one man needs? Some performances are already sold out, so get your tickets from the Centre quickly!

2017 has been a rollercoaster of a year, in performing arts alone there’s been Cocktails & Cabaret, Sweeney Todd, Cats, Les Mis, the choirs and panto. 2018 has even more in store, and we’re particularly looking forward to some special additions to help celebrate it being the Year of Young People...more on that soon!

And fi nally, if you’re interested in knowing more about how your Centre is doing, do come down to the AGM at 7pm on Thursday December 7th. You’ll be sure of a warm welcome.
