NO MATTER HOW many monuments we visit or museums we explore, who comes to Paris without a little extra money for a splurge? Whether you just want to do a little shopping on the side, or you have come with the sole intention of making a lightning strike on this city of unparalleled style, here’s a guide to all the places you need to know to get what you want without squandering a minute. Unrepentant shoppers might consider booking a hotel in either the Marais or Saint-Germain-des- Prés, the capital’s two most fertile shopping grounds. More than just retail hubs, the entire 3rd and 4th (Marais) and the 6th (Saint-Germain) arrondissements are devoted to the sport, and both offer more shops than you
could sack in a week. Both are also brimming with buzzy restaurants, cafés and wine bars, and a lively cultural scene for some edifying side attractions at the end of a busy day’s bag- carrying. There are plenty of other areas to investigate too, but let’s start here…
THE MARAIS You’ll find all the hip fashion chains in the Lower Marais, in the 4th arrondissement, including Zadig et Voltaire, Maje, Sandro, ba&sh, Uniqlo, COS, The Kooples, etc, while the upper part, in the 3rd arrondissement, is stocked with more edgy boutiques and concept stores, which peddle not only chic goods but an entire lifestyle, and a few of the more
