Itwas agreed that the parish council would help and the clerk would find out how much had been raised. Resignation After years of working as stallholder co-ordinator for the village fete, Jean Duffy had resigned. The parish clerk would take over this role. Crime report Therewere five crime reports: a theft from Culpeper Close; a break-in at a property in Ashford Road; the theft of a van from Culpeper Close; two vanswere broken into in a car park near the M20. PCSO Dave Rowleywas due to start his new job with the police. The new PCSO Is Mike Buckfield. A20 roundabout Itwas agreed that the roundabout is dangerous because drivers do not giveway to each other. Itwas thought essential that white lines are reinstated or that giveway signs are placed around the roundabout. The clerk said re-liningwas scheduled for the school holidays. School bus KCC Cllr Shellina Prendergast was disappointed that the Stagecoach bus service had decided to stop collecting children from the Hollingbourne side of Ashford Road when they travelled to school in the mornings. Cllr Ardley said if the bus driver did not see them on the Hollingbourne side of the road and drove off without them they would be late for

A Peugeot 407 parked in Hockers Lane, Detling, had its rear number plate stolen. A skip full of rubbish from a work in


Grove Green Road was stolen from outside a property. Fencing was damaged at a house in Cayser Drive, Kingswood. A vehicle was vandalised in Bearsted


Road,Weavering. Someone stole pumpkins from an allotment in Ashford Road, Lenham. Two red ceramic pots were stolen from outside a house in The Hedgerow, Boxley.

Itwas agreed that the parish council continue to use fluorescent lighting in the building for the meantime. Playground The parish council had received the S106 money of £21,911 fromWealden Homes on behalf of the houses at Godfrey Meadow for the provision of new equipment in the village playground. The equipment would be introduced after the school holidays. Defibrillator The clerk had wrien to the landlords of village pubs to see if they would be willing to have a defibrillator installed on the outside of their buildings. Richard Phillips, of theWindmill pub, had responded and there had been a very positive meeting regarding the positioning of a defibrillator. Station Approach The lightswere now working on Station Approach and therewas a footpath from Godfrey Meadow to Station Lane across Network Rail land. The parish council had been notified of a problem with the ticket machine at the station and the CEO of SouthEastern had been informed of the maer. The station masterwas monitoring the situation. Fete report About £10,000was raised at the fete.Aprovisional date of June 9 had been set for next year’s fete. However, Cllr Ardley wanted to know if the fete would take place, as a lot of supportwas needed from outside the parish council. Anyone willing to help was asked to contact the parish council. Twinning The chairman of the Templeuve commiee in France had resigned, which could put a strain on the relationship due to language problems. The Hollingbourne branch had wrien to neighbouring villages asking for their support at events. Templeuve had taken back ownership of the claret jug when they won the golfing event in France. Financial report The cheques at the meeting


were authorised and therewas £65,109 in the bank. However, the section 106 money would soon be spent on the playground equipment. The clerkwaswaiting for the end of year accounts to be returned from the external auditor.


Otham


Suon Road KCC Cllr Gary Cooke did not support the proposed junction improvements for Suon Road/Willington Street. These included: grass banks and trees to be removed on the south side and replaced with fencing; north side to be widened to Morrison’s (approximately). It was noted that Suon Road housingwas the cause of the additional traffic and a relief roadwas the only long-term solution.MBC was understood to be in favour of this. Yellow lines Double yellow lines in Buyn Way are required for the bus route that is planned to go through Imperial Park and down Church Road. Communications Trainingwas required for the Wordpress platform as the new system was more difficult to use. Cllr Cooke would investigate. Enquiries would be made with Downswood Parish Council, as theywere using a different platform. Village hall The current pre-school had left the village but itwas understood that a new pre-school would be established later in the year. Downswood Pre-schoolwas also understood to be closing. Kent Police had been using the hall for training for the last twoweeks. Volunteerswere being sought to paint the window. Neighbourhood plan The consultation process closed on July 28. Otham parish had been designated a Neighbourhood Area for the purpose of preparing a Neighbourhood Plan. The steering group had drawn up four priority areas to base the Neighbourhood Plan around: a new village hall/leisure facilities; improved green links through the village; design of new housing; protecting views from the conservation area. These areaswere presented to the public at the fete and the responsewas very positive.

A council metal waste bin was found crushed flat in a play area at Penhurst Close,Weavering. In Doncaster Close, Otham, a vehicle parked in the road was broken into. A vehicle parked on a driveway at


Timber Tops, Lordswood was broken into and a wallet containing cash and cards was stolen. A house in Stoneacre Lane, Otham,was broken into. A Lidl air compressor and tools were


stolen after a garage was broken into in FrogmoreWalk, Lenham. A Peugeot Partner van parked in The


Street, Detling, had an offside window smashed.
