Have you considered how difficult it is for poor families to buy even the most basic of school supplies? Did you know that in some places where WME works children are not allowed to attend school unless they provide their own desks? Were you aware that in other places students must purchase uniforms to go to class? And, on top of that, in many regions children must also buy their textbooks. In other words, for millions of children across the globe education is anything but free and is therefore completely out of their reach.
Our almost sixty years of work in developing nations has made something very clear. The most effective way to break a family’s cycle of poverty is to equip children with a strong, educational foundation. To pave the road to opportunity, WME has created programs that deal with the specific needs poor families must address for their children to gain access to an education.
