RETAIL THERAPY …..

Aldeburgh boasts one of the best High Streets for retail therapy…...and fine food.

Many of the shops and restaurants are in- dependently owned and they all provide a unique experience for shoppers and diners.

Whether it’s clothes and shoes for him and her, fashion accessories and jewellery, up- market stuff for the home, decent wine and beers or just very smart coastal crafts - Alde- burgh has the lot and plenty more.

Work your way from the splendidly-English Wentworth Hotel on the seafront, pass the Mill Inn, where they serve good food and ale, on to the top end of the High Street. On the right is the famous Lighthouse restaurant - which enjoys a fabulous reputation - on the left the Aldeburgh bookshop (well worth a visit). Watch out, too, for butchers Salter and King - with a mouth-watering display of fine meat and goodies.

The Co-op is a compact supermarket supply- ing all the essentials - and just next door is the town’s Post Office.

Aldeburgh Pharmacy is the next stop, open seven days a week and serving the wider community for years. There’s an excellent toy department on the first floor.

Where better to go for top-quality mens and ladies clothes and shoes but O and C Butch- ers. They’ve been in business for more than 100 years and now carry a range of goods which would be the envy of any West End outfitter. Their sister shop Fleur is on the op- posite side of the road.

By now, hunger will be setting in. Just join 24
