FOUR PLACES NOT BE MISSED

1. The Moot Hall, headquarters of the Town Council and the Museum. Built in the 16th Century and one of the most photographed buildings in the town.

3. The Martello Tower is the largest and Northernmost of 103 English defensive tow- ers built between 1808 and 1812 to repel a Napoleonic invasion. The quatrefoil tower was built with nearly a million bricks and stands at the Orford end of the sea wall.

2. The Scallop, the stainless steel sculpture created by artist Maggie Hamlin and con- structed in the town by Peggs. It is inscribed with words taken from Britten’s opera, Peter Grimes.

4. The South Lookout - a Grade II listed building on the beach at Crag Path. Built in the mid-19th Century (together with the North Lookout), it’s a wonderfully eclectic three-storey masterpiece. Artist Caroline Wiseman is based here. Watch out for su- perb exhibitions.
