At Light Fiberglass in Steuben, they have three boats underway, to the left is an Osmond 50 and to the right a Wayne Beal 46.


At the Sail Power & Steam Museum


in Rockland, they are progressing well on the Friendship sloop, BLACKJACK, built by Wilbur Morse of Friendship in 1900. Presently they have just fi nished the deck, the coamings are in and they are putting the house top on. What is left now is paint and varnish and some minor joiner work. She may be launched this summer. Unfortunate- ly, the lead worker has been hired to work


on the schooner MARY E., which is going to be rebuilt at the Maine Maritime Museum in Bath.


York Marine in Rockland has had a very busy winter and spring. Inside one bay is a South Shore 34,


which is in to be completely refurbished. They have redone her systems, added a teak interior and have painted her with Awlgrip.

At Journey’s End Marina in Rockland, they are fi nishing out this Dixon 50 as a lobster boat.


They will next build a fl ybridge. She is scheduled to be overboard this summer. A 26 foot Crosby launch hull is being


fi tted with a pilothouse and wrap-around seating in the stern. She has no berths, but does have a head and small galley. She is powered with a diesel engine and should be fi nished later this summer. Next to her is a Massachusetts Maritime


Academy rowing gig that has been com- pletely rebuilt. They have done this to three others before for that Academy. Also in this bay is a Mitchell Cove 32


powered with a 480 Cummins. They have raised her platform and house fi ve inches, added new Soundown, and windows. She will be used as a six-pack sportfi sherman/ tuna boat.


Coming in next is a Young Brothers 40


lobster boat that will be rebuilt for a fi sher- man on North Haven. This project should be started within the month. A 34 foot sailboat has received a new


Espar heater, complete Awlgrip, autopilot, deck catches and an engine overhaul. One of Chuck Paine 18 sailboats may


have been sold and if this is the case they will begin construction shortly.


Journeys End Marina in Rockland


is another very busy yard on the coast of Maine. Work is progressing well on the Dixon


50, which is being fi nished out as a lobster boat. She is powered with a 850 hp Baudouin


diesel. Presently they are working on fairing out the cabin inside and out and putting in the platform. PALAWAN III will be coming into the


paint shop soon to have paint applied around her new house. Next year they will paint her deck.


The newest Sabre 66, hull #4, will be


coming in in August. She will be in for paint and other work before launched and deliv- ered to her new owner. Over the winter, the engine department


has sold a number of new engines to com- mercial fi shermen. They have also rebuilt a number of engines for both the commercial and pleasure industry. In the paint booth they have rented space for another yard to do some work. Presently they are working on their


300+ storage customers, which is about 75 percent complete. They also have a number of boats brought in from their owner’s yards that get some work before they are launched for the season. Their new inside storage building may


have some space next year and if you are interested, call soon, because vacancies will not be around long.

Starling Burgess for members of the New York, Corinthian, and Seawanhaka yacht clubs; and built by Abeking & Rasmussen in Germany in 1927. CYTHEREA’s proud owners have included well-known yachtsmen like A.W. Stewart, Alexander Morgan, and Winthrop Aldrich. It has been said that the Burgess 10
