Scott releases statement on Supreme Court decision to review Trump’s travel ban
The Hampton Roads Messenger 3
WASHINGTON, D.C. –
Congressman Bobby Scott (VA-03) issued the following statement on the U.S. Supreme Court’s decision to review President Trump’s travel ban and to allow parts of the executive order to be enforced until the Court makes a final ruling: “I am disappointed that the Supreme Court has allowed parts of President Trump’s travel ban to move forward until they issue a final decision. While
I am pleased that the Court
preserved the ability of travelers from the countries listed in the travel ban to enter the United States if they have a credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United
States, I remain concerned that the President and his administration will continue to unnecessarily delay the resettlement of refugees fleeing violence. “Based on the President’s previous comments on this issue during the election and in the wake of lower court decisions delaying its implementation, I am also concerned about the President’s intent to implement this executive order in a non-discriminatory manner. By the time the Supreme Court hears arguments in this case, the Court and the American public will be able to determine if the Administration applied this travel ban in a discriminatory fashion.”
