Nice Carnival February 17-March 3, 2018 This two-week Mardi Gras celebration is a wondrous medley of art, dance and music. Performers dazzle in elaborate costumes whilst confetti showers the crowd; hundreds of flowers are thrown to spectators in the ‘Bataille de Fleurs’ (see later entry); and, perhaps most striking of all, a series of floats seat colossal (and often satirical) papier mâché or animatronic figures in the main parade.
