Bestiaries are medieval illustrated encyclopaedias of animals: domestic, exotic & sometimes utterly imaginary. This lecture tells many of the stories of the beasts, considers what such books were really for, who used them & how. Presented by Donnelley Fellow Librarian of Corpus Christi Cambridge Christopher de Hamel - probably the world's best-known expert & author on medieval manuscripts.
