Therewere also road accidents in Chegworth Road and Gravelly Boom Road. NeighbourhoodWatch Nobody had come forward to take over the reins of the scheme, but the information would be included in the Parish News and the clerk would put notices on the boards and on the Swap & Shop Facebook page. Highways The meeting with KCC Highways confirmed there was no practical way of orchestrating a one-way system in Broomfield Road during other local road closures and similar issues. Should a Leeds/Langley relief road be agreed, it would take 20 years to complete; KCC could not be held responsible for repairs to passing places on single track roads as the land is not its responsibility; it would investigate the possibility of advisory signage indicating single/narrow road information be installed on single track roads in the parish. Potholes The possibility of the parish council carrying out some repairs to the worst passing place potholeswas considered, as they were believed to be dangerous. Following advice the clerk obtained from the insurers, it was agreed that thiswas not something the parish councilwas able to undertake. Grass cuing The programme indicated that this would take place on September 12. M20 resurfacingA leer had been received from MP Helen Whately pledging her support for noise mitigation measures between junctions 8 and 9. She advised that Highways England would be inspecting this part of the M20. She asked for a meeting with councillors and parishioners and the clerk would respond. Planters Councillors discussed a planting plan that had been provided and concluded that they would like this to be a community project if possible. Cllr Friend would speak to the headteacher at KPS to see if the children would be interested in a planting project. If thiswas unsuccessful, Cllr Hoy would approach East Suon Park Prison. Peter Pease Close Cllr Davies had reviewed the S106 agreement and advised councillors that it did not allow for the parish council to participate in anyway with selling or finding tenants for Peter Pease properties and on that basis it would not be for the parish council to “pull out” of the S106 agreement. However, a register of interest would continue to be held as properties become available. Village hall The clerk has liaised with colleagues and obtained details of several architects for the extension project.A parish undertaking a similar project has recommended a company who will project manage every element. The clerk would ask for a no obligation consultation.

Langley
Police report There had been two crimes in the month before the meeting. Kent Police
had also been called to deal with parking issues along Horseshoes Lane by the Poing Shed. Coffee morning The event on June 7 had been aended by one resident. Unfortunately, the hallwas not available in July and itwas decided to resume again in September. Buses Itwas noted that Kent Highways was to look at the option of widening Horseshoes Lane by removing the raised hedge and railings. However, this would mean major engineering works as the path would have to be underpinned and the telegraph poles moved. It would need assurances from Arriva that services would be resumed to Langley Heath. Cllr Hotson suggested a pedestrian survey be commissioned by the parish council with funding from his members fund to gauge the footfall of people crossing the A274 to access the bus stop. This data could then be used to build a case for pedestrian crossings. Itwas felt itwas a goodway forward but should not be considered until bus stop markers had been erected. ParkingA number of emails had been received about parking by the junction at Horseshoes Lane and along the pavements and verges near the Poing Shed.A meeting with the managing directorwas still to be confirmed but the issue had been brought to the aention of the police and Kent Highways to try to find a solution. Bus stopA number of residents had experienced problems trying to board and alight from buses at Horseshoes Lane and PloughWents, due to the lack of a bus stop indicator and drivers being unwilling to stop. Itwas agreed to contact Arriva about this.
Holiday outreachA leer had been received from Surestart Children’s Centre regarding the use of the recreation ground for a summer holiday outreach session. Thiswas agreed. Allotments The landowner had given permission to make adjustments to the gateway and provide a car parking area at the site. However, due to a current lack of demand for allotments, it was decided not to move this project forward.
