Election Cllr Fay Goochwas elected chairman with Cllr Sandra Manser as vice-chairman. Public session Cllr Goochwas thanked for the tribute which she gave at the funeral of Peter Hurrell. Hewas an extremely caring man and itwas nice to learn a few more things about him including the start of the Barming News leaflet. Play equipment Therewas an enquiry regarding the wooden beam thatwas removed from the play equipment last year due to rot. This would be placed on next month’s agenda for consideration to replace. Towpath There had been more correspondence regarding the towpath and all comments had been sent to Colin Finch. A meeting would be arranged. Motorcycles had been seen on the new towpath. Cllr Gooch had been shown photographs of tyre tracks but believed theywere from push bikes. Colin Finch would be informed. Police maers PCSO Kirsty Greaves had been informed of the issues with drug- taking thatwere occurring at the parish field. Any activity would be reported on 101 and residents would keep a log of vehicle registrations. The PCSO would visit the area. Members did notwant to close the car park any earlier especially with the summer evenings approaching. Zebra crossingA complaint regarding the effectiveness of the Belisha beacons on the Tonbridge Road had been received. The resident felt that the beaconswere not bright enough,was concerned that an accident would occur and asked the parish council to investigate Zebrite LED crown. Cllr Gooch had contacted the company who supply the crowns, which would cost £3,650. KCC could not provide funding and some councillors felt that the crowns would not slow traffic down. Cllr Gooch felt that important points had been made and would continue to seek funding. Telephone box The Community Heartbeat charity had taken over ownership of the telephone box by the Bull Orchard store. Cllr Gooch had contacted the charity as the boxwas being used as a rubbish bin, had weeds growing round it, bill posting on it andwas making the area unsightly. As the Bull public house had installed a

stolen from outside a house. Money and bank cardswere stolen from
anMGthatwas parked in Peacock Mews. On the same date, bank cards and cash were stolen from aVWCaddy in the underground car park at Peacock Mews. Bank cards, cash and a sat navwere also stolen from a silver Suzuki Grand Vitara parked in the car park. Glass panels in a greenhouse at an allotment in Buckland Hillwere smashed. Access Residents in Rede Wood Road and Broomshaw Road had been approached by representatives from TaylorWimpey asking if they would be prepared to sell their properties to enable access for potential development at the pea field. Crime report Figures supplied by the new PCSO, Martin Chivers,were read out. Therewas an email report from PCSO Doug Muir that CCTV had been installed covering the front of theWalnut Tree Avenue and another report about the Joint Family Management Officer parent visits following problems at the playing field. Allotments Therewas a report of a broken fence and a “camp” in the Brooks Field.A quotation had been received by the allotment holders to repair the fence and it was agreed to support the McAlpine Trust in geing the fence repaired as soon as possible. BinsA responsewas still awaited from John Edwards regarding the payment of bin emptying at the KGV playing field. Old Loose Hill An email had been received from Cllr Sue Grigg regarding parking issues. Responses from Cllr Eric Hotsonwere discussed, aswas the earlier proposal regarding installation of double yellow lines from the bus stop to the allotment gates. Itwas agreed that this proposal be put on hold until more options were explored. Itwas further recommended that the installation of the planter be put on hold. Neighbourhood planning The work done by the focus group had been passed on to Feria. Pictures to support the documents were needed. Once all had been placed into the text, the draft would be give to the parish council for approval. SMART Kent Speedwatch told the group about initial training, and the groupwas trying to recruit volunteers. Linton crossroadswas a major area under
consideration. Arriva seemed to have backtracked about not going into the school grounds to pick up Cornwallis pupils andwas not happy going through the centre of Maidstone because of congestion. Defibrillator McAlpine Trustwas keen for a defibrillator to be available in the area but felt the allotment sitewas not ideal. The parish council would have to look at cost and location. Spring clean Thiswaswell supported with 21 bags of rubbish collected. Itwas felt that next time, there needed to be more signs. Tea and cakeswere a great success. Annual meeting The clerk read out details of the speakers and number of groups wishing to have a stand. Itwas agreed that the chairman of relevant commiees would speak for about two minutes. The doors would be open from 7pm for members of the public who wished to speak with councillors.

Burglary warning Memberswere told of an opportunist shed and garden burglary andwere advised to be vigilant. Parking The issue of parking on the pavements in Burial Ground Roadwas discussed and itwas reported that itwas a police maer.A leer would be sent to the police, highlighting the issue. Provision for disabled parking in the car parkwas discussed. Itwas proposed not to provide additional disabled spaces and thiswas agreed.
Resignation Councillorswere informed of the resignation of Cllr Glyn Charlton, with immediate effect. The resignationwas accepted and tribute paid to his long service. Fete 2017 Cllr Nike Azeezwas co-opted to the fete commiee. Detailswere given of prospective stalls and aractions, some of which had already been booked. Communication Itwas suggested that meetings and event should be advertised more regularly on the Facebook page. The issue of the newsleer and its distribution would be added to the agenda for the next meeting. Itwas suggested that the minutes of meetings could be displayed at locations such as the working men’s club, and the Royal Papermill pub.
