was the year when India saw huge success in the field of sports, politics, business, entertainment, etc. One thing that makes 2016 a glorious year in the history of India is that so many women succeeded in their line of profession and made it to the top in the list of successful personalities. These successful women stayed in the news for a long time and achieved the worldwide recognition for their accomplishments.


P V SINDHU After winning the silver medal at the Rio Olympics in 2016, PV Sindhu became a sensation among the population of India. She was the first Indian woman to win a silver medal at the 2016 Olympics, which was a matter of great pride for all the Indians. P V Sindhu started playing badminton from the young age of 8 and currently holds rank 2 in the BWF World Ranking.


DIPA KARMAKAR When we hear the name Dipa Kamarkar, Pradunova Vault is the first thing that strikes our mind. She is one of the only five women who has successfully performed Pradunova, which is considered the most difficult vault performed in women’s gymnastics. Dipa Kamarkar is the first Indian female gymnast to compete in the Olympics.

Sushma Swaraj is quite active on Twitter and famous for helping Indian citizens who are stuck in abroad due to visa issues and other problems. Even the kidney failure couldn’t keep her away from the job, and she continued to look into the official matters during her illness.


IROM SHARMILA Irom Sharmila who is popular by the name “Iron Lady” is a civil rights activist from Manipur, India. She fasted for 16 years protesting to repeal the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in Manipur. In 2016, she ended her fast and decided to continue her protest by joining politics and launched her party, People’s Resurgence and Justice Alliance Party.
