ynod has agreed we can rent the manse out again, but only for six months. They are however keen to sell the

house and we have someone nominated by Synod to value the building soon. This must be done in a specific order for the valuation to be as agreed by the Charity Commission.

The problem is, the manse does need a lot of work on the rooms to bring it up to date and, if we rent it out, elders will be liable for the building and upkeep.

If church members vote to sell the property we have been told that we will be advised on the value and a rental price, agreed by Synod. If sold we can expect a percentage of the rental value in year one followed by an annual amount which would be reduced on a sliding scale for a few more years.

Sorry I haven’t been able to call a meeting, but we have no actual confirmed facts and figures to go on. Hopefully we will have something to discuss in a couple of weeks’ time, but I felt it important that you all knew what stage we were at. Synod has confirmed the manse will not be used when we call a new minister, so in fact it can be called redundant.
