Bus, the PV360 is factory-installed on new Saf-T-Liner C2 school buses. He says the state-of-the-art camera was the first of its kind in the industry. It remains the only package that provides a 360-degree bird’s-eye view that completely surrounds the bus exterior. Although other cameras in the marketplace provide images on split screens, Tomas Built Bus claims its PV360 camera is
still the only such device that shows full visibility completely surrounding the bus, since its screens are seamlessly stitched together to create just one image. To ensure a complete view, high-resolution wide-angle cameras
are installed in the front, back, left and right sides of the school bus. Tese four cameras provide the driver with crisp, real-time video images of everything that is happening outside of the bus— without constantly switching views. And if the driver needs a closer look, he or she can toggle between cameras for a close-up. Te Mobileye collision avoidance is another factory-installed option for the Saf-T-Liner C2. Te system provides collision pre- vention and mitigation by warning drivers of potential incidents before they happen. Other system benefits are pedestrian and cyclist detection, headway monitoring to avoid tailgating, lane departure warning to help avoid drifting, and speed limit indication. Sharp is also piloting 10 eLion school buses from Te Lion
Electric Company. Te $400,000 eLion buses are paid for under a 10-year Ministry of the Environment & Climate Change program. It will be distributed in that province according to weather and cli- mate factors. Te bus has a 120 km range (74.56 miles), with zero emissions and no noise. It has been estimated that using the bus on a typical school route equals removing five cars from the roads and cutting 23 tons of greenhouse gases.
