WINTER - activities for kids
Dawn Kingsford went in search of some dates for your diary to wear out the kids this winter.
With a seemingly inexhaustible list of “things children like to do”, from squirt guns to sleepovers, corn mazes to puddle-jumping, we still struggle when it comes to providing enough for them
to do, especially in the winter months. Like any job, establish what it is you
want to achieve and then pull on your “entertainment manager’s hat” and get planning — it may be more fun than you think. The weather is one element you will need to consider, but with most youngsters sharing a passion for water, it can be worked to your advantage. Think about whether your activity will be inside or out-of-doors and go from there.

In Kent, there are so many things –
many of them free – to help fill a fun day. Try your local leisure centres, which run a host of activities, along with swimming sessions and games; your local library is another valuable resource, where you will find a string of reading and story- time events on offer as well as a bundle of brochures about places to visit. A quick trawl through your local
newspaper or on the web will throw up a whole host of activities in your area, many run by leisure attractions, organisations and charities such as the RSPB and the Kent Wildlife Trust; these will get your youngsters out and about, learning and letting off steam with other youngsters.
