We're your biggest FANS Supporting talented sports performers in Kent


The Countywide FANS scheme (Free Access for National Sportspeople) supports the development of talented sports performers, including disabled and non - disabled performers, who perform at National level.


The scheme, which was established in 1998, has over 500 members across the County ranging in age from seven-84 years old. Dame Kelly Holmes is Patron of the scheme, and there are also a number of past and present FANS members who are Ambassadors – Paralympic table tennis medallists Will Bayley and Ross Wilson, and Olympic athlete Lisa Dobriskey.


Support available to FANS members includes free access at designated off- peak times to over 60 of the County’s


leisure and sports facilities for personal training and development along with discounts on kit and equipment, physiotherapy, sports massage, osteopathy, chiropractic treatment and sport science support / testing. Small grants are also available to FANS members who are in full time education.


To be eligible for support performers must reside in Kent or Medway, be competing in a sport recognised by Sport England, and meet at least one of the following criteria:


Members of a national team or squad currently listed in the top 10 of any national age group ranking.


Successful in any national age group competition (top 10 finish, in the last 12 months).

How is the membership of the FANS scheme helping you with training for your sport?


The FANS scheme helps by allowing me to access the facilities at Medway Park for free. This means that I can do additional shooting and running training.

Name: Emily Keen Age: 10 years old Sport: Skiing (Freestyle) Club: Southern Freestyle Club School Sport Partnership: Howard School Sport Partnership Sporting Achievements include: Winning three medals at the 2015 British Freeski Championships in Tignes


(under 12 category) – Silver in Slopestyle, Bronze in Halfpipe and Bronze in Ski Cross.


How is the membership of the FANS scheme helping you with training for your sport? The FANS membership has really helped with my fitness training in terms of accessing facilities locally for swimming.
