It’s your choice!
Every day, in many ways, we are required to make a choice about what goes on in our lives. Sometimes these choices are routine, such as what we wear, and what we eat or drink. But often they are more far reaching.
Last September we, in Scotland, were asked to make a simple YES or NO choice about the future of the UK. Soon we will be asked to make a more complex choice about how we are governed for the next fi ve years.
But sometimes the choice is less obvious. Should I make the choice to get involved with a voluntary organisation? Fortunately many people make the positive decision when faced with that choice.
Rotary is the world’s largest voluntary organisation, and is hugely involved both with local communities, and international challenges. We are very fortunate to have in our area a very active and successful Rotary Club.
At the end of May the Club will be heavily involved with “The Fling” and one of the major events will be the Annual Duck Race. This is now probably the largest event of this type in Scotland. With over 4,500 ducks involved, we are able to raise
signifi cant
sums for good causes; Children’s Hospice Association Scotland and Childline are the major benefi ciaries from the Duck race.
The Fling, the Duck race and other events are organised and manned by volunteers. A lot of hard work goes into ensuring you and your friends and family have a really enjoyable afternoon.
So, this year why not make a personal choice to get involved, and come along to one of our meetings at the Westlands Hotel on a Thursday evening at 6.15pm; you will be most welcome. Alternatively, when buying your duck for the Duck Race, why not ask a member of the club for more information about our other activities, and the benefi ts of membership. You won’t regret it!
