UV SYSTEMS

Unlike traditional UV sanitisers, the Spectrum UV features a dual, narrow bore ‘U’ shaped chamber and two Philips Lamps, which ensures that the pathogens are kept in close contact with the UV rays throughout the flow path for a more extensive period of time. The unique design of the Spectrum UV significantly improves water quality and allows Elecro to boast an effective kill rate of 98%.

New for 2015, Certikin’s CUV range of UV Systems are built with both safety and low running costs in mind

CERTIKIN LAUNCHES NEW UV SYSTEM FOR 2015

Certikin has launched a new range of UV Systems which consists of the CUV30 (30 Watt UV bulb), CUV55 (55 Watt UV bulb) and the CUV110 (2 x 55 Watt UV bulbs). CUV’s ensure that pool or spa water has sparkling clarity, by killing the single cell algae that causes green water. They are built with both safety and low running costs in mind. All systems have been designed using the latest design technology to ensure that the water will flow effectively within the unit, allowing the ultraviolet light to destroy the micro-organisms as they pass through. Not only does the CUV look stylish, making it a fantastic addition to any pool, but it has been designed with a fully UV stabilised, tough outer casing. This means that the CUV can withstand the recommended operating pressures.

The CUV has a low energy, electronic ballast that is positioned in a fully watertight compartment, fused with full thermal overload protection. The CUV Certikin UV Systems are simple to install and are supplied with pre-fitted stainless steel

mounting brackets that allow you to fix the unit horizontally or vertically. Every model comes complete with a two year guarantee for total peace of mind.

Top Football Clubs Get The Hanovia UV Treatment

Some of England’s most famous football clubs are using Hanovia’s UV disinfection technology to purify their hydrotherapy pools. For every club it is essential their stars remain fit throughout the long, demanding season, so no expense is spared in providing world class facilities to make sure they perform at optimum levels. This includes the use of state-of-the-art hydrotherapy facilities to treat muscle injuries and accelerate recovery times. Water of exceptionally high quality is required as the clubs cannot afford for their players to fall ill as a result of water-borne pathogens like Cryptosporidium or Giardia. James Hadley, Hanovia’s UK Sales Manager, says: “Bacteria like Cryptosporidium are highly resistant to chlorine and can’t be eliminated by using the chemical on its own – an additional step is required to ensure their complete removal. UV is now one of the most popular methods of destroying them. In addition, chloramines – the unpleasant by-products of chlorination – can be effectively removed with UV.

“UV technology is therefore becoming an extremely important part of the water treatment system for many top English clubs’ hydrotherapy pools. By being effective against chlorine resistant micro-organisms and by controlling chloramines, UV is a double- edged sword that has led to Hanovia’s UV systems being installed in many hydrotherapy and swimming pools across the world.

“Not only that, UV is much cheaper and safer than the other non- chlorine treatment method, ozonation.

“Running costs are being scrutinised much more by football clubs, as all of them are trying to maximise their profits and minimise unnecessary wastage. By adding UV to their water treatment regimes, clubs are not only getting rid of harmful chlorine by-products, they are also saving money and reducing the amount of chlorine used,” concluded James.
