In this article, you can read about a number of the benefits that may be of interest to you, either as a prospective member, or an existing member as a reminder of the advantages of membership and the services on offer!

n this ever increasingly complex world, the current members of BISHTA and SPATA are reaping the rewards of being part of a Trade Association in terms of the benefits, to help their business to prosper. Both trade associations hold high

commercial and consumer recognition. Being a trade association member stands as a badge of endorsement that can help to bring many advantages, helping businesses to stake their position in the wet leisure industry. These businesses are also members

Exhibitions While SPATEX is an obvious focal point each year to generate

business, it is also clear that the hugely popular consumer shows are important to attend, to stimulate demand from end users. SPATA has been attending Grand Designs Live for the past 4 years, with support from its members. “Going to Grand Designs with SPATA has allowed us access to the show without having to commit to the whole nine days in London, saving us time and money. This great opportunity has raised our profile with this huge target audience. We are currently involved in a £200,000 project that came from a lead at the show.”

of the British Swimming Pool Federation (BSPF) and they are able to demonstrate their willingness to contribute to these industry bodies to enable our voice to be heard by government and other key decision- makers at home and abroad.

Dispute Resolution

Even the most dedicated businesses will, from time to time, have to deal with a dissatisfied customer, usually this is not an issue, and everything can be resolved amicably. However, having a Trade Association to help you, can sometimes be very helpful in more challenging circumstances.

“I pride myself on my excellent customer service, but was very grateful to be a BISHTA member, when I had to deal with a customer who was being totally unreasonable and quite abusive. Having called BISHTA, some advice was given which in itself was helpful, but more importantly in this instance, a meeting was arranged with my client, the hot tub supplier, BISHTA and myself. At the meeting, the client (with the help of the other people present) could finally understand that what I had been saying all along was, in fact, correct, and a way forward was agreed.” Steve Baxter, Welsh Hot Tubs

Meetings

Having a platform to hear guest speakers and meet members to share experiences are just two of the reasons that members choose to attend the Annual General Meeting, or the regional meetings held during the year. There are also opportunities for networking by attending these meetings.

“The regional meetings are an opportunity for me to get out of the office and see some of my competitors, to stay in touch with their news and hear what is going on in the industry. These meetings are very informal and the atmosphere is just right.”

Mark Gilpin, West Country Leisure Training

Having knowledgeable staff is a vital part of the work undertaken by employers and the Trade Associations play their part by signposting members to training on offer, such as water hygiene management and dangerous goods transportation, at reduced rates.

“Howard has been advising us for many years and his training and ongoing advice and consultation has been key to our continued business success. I would have no hesitation recommending his services to others in the industry.” Richard Palmer, Forest Holidays
