would be realized. Cherry moonshine, to be exact. Yummy. Friday morning finally came around, and the bike was


ready to hit the road. So with the same handshake and hug that started this friendship, I hopped on my bike and off I went.


Okay, so this is where I skip the


part about lighting my saddlebags and full body rain suit on fire and the part about my cousin CJ frying his battery and sleeping in a parking lot with the screwdriver in his hand, and fast-forward to: we had a great time at the festival. Sunday June 16, 2013. We


packed up our motorcycles and hit the Interstate again. We had decided to take off a bit early and just make it to Myrtle Beach so we could sit in the sun on a beach and relax. Like a John Denver song, we


hit the Blue Ridge Mountains and fueled the bikes just outside of Atlanta, GA. Tyler’s Harley was leaking oil from the case (I’ll save those jokes for another time) and his shifter was so stiff he couldn’t shift into neutral. We hit a Harley dealership only to discover it was closed. But sitting in the parking lot


were five bikers who quickly asked what the problem was. Tyler had broken the internal threads on the clutch cable going into the case, and in turn it was leaking oil. Part two of our journey begins


here. Let me introduce you to Crusty,


Doogie, Crash and Mac Daddy, some pretty hardcore bikers from Georgia. We never caught their real names, and I won’t bore you with the details, but they fixed Tyler’s bike without question and when we said we were heading to Myrtle Beach they wanted to come along for the ride. “Are you okay with riding

between 85–90 miles an hour?” they asked. Hard to say no to that! One problem however. After


gassing up to hit the Interstate through the night, Tyler’s bike broke down. Crusty went home and grabbed his truck and trailer. We took the Harley to his place where we stayed overnight until the Harley shop opened in the morning. Once again, we weren’t allowed to pay for meals or lodging. Sleeping in a comfortable bed up to this point was a welcome change.
