Computing Treat Yourself to a Tablet PC!

t’s hard to believe that the first tablet, the Apple iPad, has only been around for 3 years! There are now a huge range of tablets to choose from – and they are cheaper and faster than ever.

I

Tablets for Under £100! There are now so many tablets on the market that competition for your business is intense! The result is that there are lots of tablets for £100 and under. These cheaper tablets have slower processors with less memory and storage than their more expensive counterparts and have the smaller 7 inch screens. However, they run the Android operating system and will be fine for email, internet and downloading and running Apps. The Sumvision Cyclone Voyager and the Zoostorm SL8 are both unbeatable value at just £69.99.

Quality Tablets From £150 There is lots of choice in the £150 - £250 price bracket. Many have larger screens and are better quality with faster components. The new Toshiba Encore Tablet runs Windows 8.1 and has Microsoft Word and Excel included. It has an 8 inch screen and costs a reasonable £250. The new Samsung Galaxy 3 tablets are high quality and great value at £150 for the 7” and £250 for the 10.1” version.

Amazon’s “Mayday” Button! Amazon has a range of Kindle Fire HDX tablets that have a built in “Mayday” button! Push this button at any time (24/7, 365 days a year) and you will be connected to Amazon Support for technical help. The Kindle Fire HDX tablets are at the upper end of the price range but have high end processors and large storage capacity. The 7” Kindle Fire HDX starts from £199 and the 8.9” screen from £329.

Are iPad’s Worth the Money? At an entry price of £399, iPads are more expensive than all other tablets. Apple launched the new iPad Air a few weeks ago – it’s lighter to carry and has a better display. In our opinion, they are still head and shoulders above the rest of the tablets. If your budget can stretch to £400+ then it’s still our tablet of choice!

There are so many tablets available that it’s really worth going to a big retail store and trying the tablets for yourself. We wish you all a very happy Christmas and a technologically peaceful New Year.
