who had gone outside a little too often slept in the barn or spare bedrooms and were given a good breakfast the next day.

In those days it was a real

community. Back to rock ‘n’ roll. How many

remember the late-night drives to Quebec to places like “The Ottawa House”, the “Glenlea”, “The Chaud” (both the green room and the rose room), “The Standish Hall” − the main room, the circus lounge, the Bel Ami and, downstairs, The Rendezvous? A funny story about the

Rendezvous: for a long time it was a private club for the media and entertainers who came to town. Downstairs in the foyer, it was a tradition to sign your name on a brick on the wall. Some of the names were of celebrities like Duke Ellington, the Platters, Louis Armstrong etc. When they decided to open it up

to the public they thought maybe they should spruce the place up a little bit. They hired a local guy to give it a coat of paint, but to definitely leave the wall of fame untouched. Of course, the first thing he painted was the foyer, and decades of signatures going back as far as the thirties were lost. Well, that’s my little musical walk

down memory lane. See you next issue.
