CERTIKIN 50th ANNIVERSARY: PART TWO


Certikin’s exclusive UK and Ireland distributorship of fluvo hydrotherapy equipment began with the supply of counter- current systems and quickly progressed into water features, for both domestic and commercial applications, firstly in the UK and then abroad. The liaison between the two companies has brought about some awe- inspiring creations, including the world’s longest lazy rivers in the Shangri-La Hotel in Muscat-Oman and the Burj Tower in Dubai. CLEANING UP Partner: Maytronics Since: 1989


Since becoming the sole distributor for Dolphin robotic pool cleaners in the UK in 1989 both the manufacturer, Maytronics and Certikin have become major international concerns. Small and unassuming by nature, pool repair Fix-A-Leak has proved a runaway success for Certikin and secured huge volume sales. LOOKING TO THE FUTURE As it celebrates its landmark anniversary, Certikin is focused on consolidating its position in the pool and spa industry at the same time as seeking to explore and extend its influence into peripheral sectors closely allied to the industry.


GONE FISHING


One such example of diversification is the aquatic market. Certikin has recently signed an exclusive distribution agreement to supply the leading Heissner brand of pond, Koi and decorative products to the UK aquatics market. The premium quality brand has been a staple of the German aquatics market for many years, and is making a welcome return to the UK. To increase its exposure in this sector, Certikin will be exhibiting at the trade show for the aquatics industry, Aqua 2013, in Telford in October. Commercial Manager, Steve Nelson says: “Certikin is known in the aquatics market for its skimmer and maintenance equipment but Aqua 2013 will provide Certikin with a platform to showcase its Cepex brand of PVC pipe and fittings and its white ABS range of pipe and fittings, plus its UV systems, filters and pumps for larger installations. The stand will display the Heissner products along with a new black skimmer, designed especially for the aquatics market.”


CREATING A GOOD REACTION Certikin holds an established position in the pool and spa chemical sector but, with its partner, EMEC, it is looking to make further inroads.


Certikin started working with Simon Jay and his team in 1997 when he was the MD for Etatron UK. Certikin continued working with him to develop a range of exclusive Certikin dosing equipment in 2011, when he left Etatron and became MD of EMEC GB. Since then, Certikin automatic dosing has gone from strength to strength with the recent appointment of an extra member of staff to handle this burgeoning growth. The Certikin range is comprehensive and caters for all requirements, from simple dosing pumps to advanced dosing systems with remote access. The systems, with a retail value starting from as little as £2,000, are available as an off-the-shelf package or custom-built. A competition, with the entry to a free prize draw of a VW Up car on the purchase of a dosing system, was launched at SPATEX 2013, and has proved to be a massive success.
