Before (left) and after (right) – Sliptech ensures the safety of a floor whilst restoring it to an ‘as new’ condition too!

This is where dedicated companies such as UK matting manufacturer Plastic Extruders Ltd can provide solutions with products such as hygienic slip resistant matting. Mats that have open grid formats with raised profile underbars are particularly effective at removing surface water because they are designed to drain water towards the floor grilles. This means that their embossed surfaces remain virtually dry and highly slip resistant at all time. A good example of this is Heronrib from Plastic Extruders. It has the additional benefit of anti-bacterial and anti-fungal additives added during manufacture to ensure it is hygienic for bare feet and will reduce the risk of cross- contamination.

The HSE recommends that all floors are assessed according to the pendulum test with floors with an average reading of 36 or above on the scale considered ‘low potential for slip’

This innovative system can be laid over floors which are not completely flat which is an added advantage when covering older or poorly laid or finished floor. It can also be easily cut on site and shaped to fit against walls or around obstructions. The recent introduction of a new edging ramp forms a safe and non-trip edge between the Herontile and other areas of floor.

Heronrib is exported worldwide and is used in applications as far apart as the Blue Lagoon in Iceland to pool surrounds for the blistering heat of the American Academy in Dubai. Here, not only does it prevent people slipping but it has the ability to cope with extremes of exterior temperature over 40°C while remaining cool enough for bare feet. Large walkways of the matting are often used to surround open air pools where otherwise the hot surface would blister feet in seconds.

SANITARY FLOOR TILE SYSTEM FROM PLASTIC EXTRUDERS Herontile is a modular click system from matting manufacturer Plastic Extruders. This simple click flooring system is designed to cover large areas of flooring seamlessly and efficiently creating a safe and attractive slip-resistant wall to wall surface for changing rooms, shower- rooms and other barefoot wet areas. Manufactured from EVA making them soft and comfortable underfoot, Herontiles are impregnated with permanent anti-fungal and anti-bacterial Sanitized®

additives,

providing a safe and hygienic surface. They are manufactured in tiles which are joined together easily with a press click system. The semi-flexible tile has an open grid format with strong underside supports which will efficiently drain and dissipate large quantities of water.

CASE STUDY

Sliptech Anti-Slip Treatment Makes Maintenance Easy At London Spa

Pool and spa floors at a world famous London Spa have been deep cleaned and treated with their anti-slip treatment to enhance the safety and aesthetics of the exclusive spa. A beautiful complex, fitted with granite tiles throughout, the

spa had been applying anti-slip tape on a regular basis to counter the slip risk that was present. Although this was relatively effective, it quickly became unsightly and constantly needed to be replaced. This also meant that the area was difficult to clean properly without affecting the tape. Over a three night period their operatives removed all the tape and deep cleaned around 700 square metres of stone to remove both body fat build up as well as a calcium build that was present. Once deep cleaned, they then applied their anti-slip treatment to the area leaving a maintainable anti-slip surface which still showed off the beauty of the granite tiling.
