LEARNING CRITICAL THINKING SKILLS THROUGH PHILOSOPHY FOR CHILDREN (P4C)
For example, one way of making the learning of philosophy interesting for children is by using children's stories and poetry. The teacher has to provide an environment conducive to the development of thinking skills by laying down the ground rules, allowing respect for each learner, providing non-threatening activities, accepting individual differences, modelling thinking skills and allowing learners to actively participate in the discussions. In this manner the teacher sets an example of the behaviours which learners emulate in their own quest to learn to think critically.
