Camelot defeated in Health Lottery legal challenge


National Lottery operator Camelot has been defeated in its legal action against the Gambling Commission, which approved The Health Lottery’s license to operate in the UK. According to Camelot, a loophole in the Gambling Act 2005 has allowed Te Health


Lottery to “position itself as a direct rival to the National Lottery” and has labelled the High Court decision as “legally flawed”. Te National Lottery operator has now con-

430m euro Altitude proposals rejected


An Bord Pleanála has refused planning permis- sion for a €430m (£341m) ski resort complex in Dundalk, Ireland, which had initially been approved by Louth County Council. Innovative Leisure Systems was behind the


Altitude proposals, which included an all- weather ski slope and nursery slopes; a surf and water leisure dome; and a family hostel. Plans also included 110,000sq ſt (10,219sq m)


of indoor concert arena space and an 80,000sq ſt (7,432sq m) leisure zone incorporating a cin- ema and a tenpin bowling alley. Later phases of the development would have


included additional hotel accommodation and an international casino, subject to the relevant legislation being introduced in Ireland. Despite local authority approval, the proj-


ect faced opposition from An Taisce and Louth Environmental Group among others.
