THIS & RIGHT: Caldera Spas, from Certikin, steps up its innovation for 2012

The UK’s hot tub market is ever changing and the new 2012 season is about to be pepped up with new brands, new models but perhaps more significantly innovative SmartPhone technology and better sound, vision, lighting and even smelling options

T

he UK’s hot tub market is not standing still – while new models and new brands again feature for

the new season, the key trend changes for 2012 seem certain to include options such as SmartPhone technology and the better sound, vision, lighting and even smell systems from hot tubs.

The ability of home spa and hot tub owners to control their hot tubs through their mobile phones and iPads thanks to new SmartPhone technology leads the innovation as a number of manufacturers add the facility to top end spa models for 2012. Artesian, Spa Crest Europe, Coast Spas, Sundance and many others either already have or plan to unveil

new hot tub applications that control multiple spa functions through iPhone, iTouch and iPad, on models which come with luxury options. The technology seems certain to be extended to all major brands by the end of the year. The hot tub industry

acknowledges that it has to deal with a more discerning spa buyer who demands more gadgets, ease of use options and critically energy savings devices. So the ability to take control of their hot tubs remotely with their iPhone, iPod or iPad seems likely to be an instant success. The hot tub owner just downloads the free app from iTunes and they are connected to their hot tub controls.

As soon as the owner connects to

a spa, he or she will be able to monitor exactly what’s going on in terms of temperature changes of the water and will be able to change the temperature and many other hot tub functions, activating jets and turning lights on and off. Manufacturers are seeing the apps as a real extra selling point for owners who want to save time and ‘play’ and even show off with the options the new technology brings. While there are new models for dealers to get their teeth into the theme for the new year will certainly be the extras such as improved lighting systems, sound and audio and energy saving applications seems as crucial to making potential hot tub owners finally make up their mind for a 2012 sale.

When it comes to new season products there’s plenty of activity as leading brands present new models and updated versions to deals and to customers.

Others such as Jacuzzi® plan to introduce new models in the spring.
