“The Gift of Song” A classical song recital, “The Gift of Song”, featuring Jane
Cormier, Soprano and Kathryn Southworth, Pianist will be offered on Sunday, December 4, 3pm, at the Gilford Community Church. “The Gift of Song” will offer works by Schubert, Mozart,
Richard Strauss and Samuel Barber. Jane Cormier is Director of Just Love to Sing!, a NH non profit music orga- nization. Ms. Cormier has performed all over the world in leading operatic roles and has offered solo song recitals in Vienna, Germany, and Italy. “This is a very special song recital, as it has been a few years since I have found time to put a concert together. There is something for everyone at this concert, and hopefully, people will come to hear some of arts songs’ very finest composers”, says Cormier. Ms. Cormier will be accompanied at the piano by Kathryn
Southworth, who is Piano Department Chair at Concord Community Music School. Ms. Southworth will also offer piano solo selections at the concert and both Ms. Cormier and Ms. Southworth will meet with the audience after the performance. Tickets are $

“A Christmas Carol” In Ashland As part of Christmas Night in Ashland, the Hampstead
Stage Company will present “A Christmas Carol” at 7pm . on Friday, December 2, in the Ashland Baptist Church, at 57 Main Street in downtown Ashland. The play is based on Charles Dickens’ classic holiday
story of the miser Ebeneezer Scrooge, who, through the visits of the Spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Future, learns the true meaning of Christmas. The Hampstead Stage Company is a non-profit organi-
zation, based in Barnstead N.H., which presents classical literature through live theater, with a focus on young audi- ences. The performance is sponsored by the Community Council of Ashland and the Friends of the Ashland Town Library. Admission is free (although donations are always welcome).
Santa Claus to Visit Historic Pierce Manse
Santa Claus will visit the historic Pierce Manse on 14 Horseshoe Lane in Concord, on Saturday, December 10, from noon to 3pm. Franklin Pierce, the 14th President of the United States and only president from New Hampshire, was the first to have a decorated Christmas tree in the White House. This year, the public is invited to celebrate the holiday
season with a visit to his historic Concord home. Take a step back in time and tour this historic home decorated for the holidays. Bring your children and grandchildren to meet Santa and enjoy snacks and crafts. For a $5 dona- tion, take home a keepsake photo of your children with Santa. All event proceeds will be donated to The Friendly Kitchen, Concord’s only soup kitchen, which has served over 600,000 meals to the hungry since 1980.
