Honeywell unveils new handheld colour imaging scanner

H

oneywell has introduced the Xenon 1900 Colour scanner. The scanner will allow users to capture colour images and scan high-contrast colour barcodes

that were previously unreadable, while retaining Xenon’s high-quality scanning performance on black and white barcodes. A significant advantage of the Xenon 1900 Color scanner is said to be its ability to read colour barcodes, such as a red barcode on a white background. Customers using the scanner will also eliminate the need for multiple image capture and storage devices, minimising the risks of compromised data, privacy violations and related costs.

The Xenon 1900 scanner, also available as the cordless Xenon 1902 Colour, utilises Adaptus Imaging Technology 6.0 and Honeywell’s ColorFusion Technology to enable high-quality

reading performance on hard-to- read barcodes, including those on mobile device screens.

Improved identification

processes Honeywell reports that deployment of colour scanners will enable improved identification processes, as the coloured portions of identification cards can now be captured in their original form. The company adds that healthcare professionals will also be able to take colour images for improved wound management, and visual identification of patients without a wristband. Both the Xenon 1900 and 1902 Colour scanners are available with disinfectant- ready housing for healthcare professionals.

To ensure that the Xenon family of scanners continues to deliver high-level performance,

upgrades have been made to the existing scanners; including extended depth of field, improved data matrix and mobile phone reading, adjustable illumination, Bluetooth HID keyboard interface and optional laser aimers. Taylor Smith, director of product management, Honeywell Scanning & Mobility, commented: “The emergence and adoption of mobile phone reading in recent years has changed the way companies interact with consumers in various industries. Honeywell anticipates that color imaging will quickly follow suit. Meeting

the growing demands of this scanning evolution, the Xenon family of scanners continues to arm customers with the technologies necessary for future success.” 
