automatic, powered by 24V rechargeable battery and operated by waterproof remote control, comply with the requirements of the ADA. Scout disabled pool lift was launched by Aqua Creek Products and was available in the UK through Suntrap Systems at the end of June. The introduction of the Scout Lift into the Aqua Creek range is very timely in view of the new ADA legislation. The Scouthoist has been designed to utilise existing poolside sockets for their popular manual EZ and battery-assisted Power EZ Lifts which Suntrap Systems have been promoting for several years, in order to minimise installation costs for their customers. BIO-DEGRADABLE SOLUTION FOR ENERGY SAVING

The Lovibond product line addresses everything needed for good water testing and measurement to meet all applications and pockets. The products include a wide variety of Photometers and Comparators through to simple Hand-Held Kits together with the Lovibond reagents, renowned worldwide for their quality, accuracy and long-term stability. Water testing has never been so easy.

The message from Lovibond has always been consistent – regular, careful pool water testing is essential: routinely checking the levels of various parameters is crucial for bather safety and comfort, supporting pool plant maintenance and controlling the usage of pool chemicals. The newest product addition is the MD100 PoolControl Range which comprises two models – MD100 3in1 for chlorine and pH, MD100 6in1 for chlorine, pH, bromine, total alkalinity and calcium hardness. Both units are fully water proof, easy-to-use and supplied in a rugged carrying case.

SUNTRAP INTRODUCES NEW SCOUT LIFT HOIST

Birmingham based Suntrap Systems has a new pool hoist available at LIW which comes directly from changes to the disability law in the United States. Four months ago the Americans with Disabilities Act (known as ADA) introduced more stringent requirements concerning the provision of access for the disabled in America. They stipulate that a hoist which a disabled user can operate independently has now become a requirement for every swimming pool, hotel, club, holiday or commercial centre open to members of the general public; this legislation comes fully into force in April 2012. This means a pool hoist has to be powered either by battery or by water pressure, battery operation being considered the most up-to-date method. Aqua Creek lifts which are fully

Heatsavr, the remarkable bio-degradable liquid which forms a transparent monomolecular layer over the surface of a swimming pool, is now being used in an increasing number of commercial pools.

The Heatsavr layer reduces evaporation, which not only saves on water heating but with indoor pools can significantly reduce the cost of humidity control and air heating. An automatic dosing system ensures the correct dose of Heatsavr is added at the same time each day. For over 50 years, scientists have known a monolayer spread across the surface of a liquid can reduce evaporation and energy loss, but until Flexible Solutions developed their patented Heatsavr, over 16 years ago, no one was able to make a monolayer spread reliably and inexpensively or re-group effectively after the water had been disturbed.

Bob White, Managing Director of Heatsaver Ltd, the UK distributors, says Heatsavr is a fully automatic cover with a difference.

“Unlike a conventional automatic cover, which has to be removed before swimming, Heatsavr is available to do its job 24 hours a day since it works whenever the pool is sufficiently calm.” Heatsavr will be on: Stand P260

SWAN PROMOTE HIGH QUALITY CONTROL SYSTEMS

Swan Analytical UK Limited will be promoting high quality control systems for water purity in mainly commercial pools. The company says it sees the opportunity at LIW as a considerable one for offering cost savings on water control through technology. Swan is one of the leading manufacturers of online analytical instruments. Every single instrument is made in Switzerland. With energy savings high on the agenda of commercial pools one of the most effective methods of cutting down on energy use and

hence CO2 emissions in swimming pools is to use a pool cover.

DALESAUNA STRESS DIFFERENT ASPECTS OF THEIR BUSINESS

Dalesauna, a name normally associated with saunas and steam rooms, will promote an extra dimension to their business at LIW. The company will be putting special emphasis on different aspects of the opportunities they offer to commercial pools – including hydrotherapy pools, spa and plunge pools. A developing side of their business are pool and spa chemicals, essences and water testing products which have grown organically to the stage where it is now being given a fresh marketing push with an online shopping facility. A new website at www.dalesauna.co.uk was launched this summer to offer customers the range of chemicals, accessories and spares. Also being highlighted at LIW is a new structure for affordable servicing payments, traditionally invoiced twice a year on saunas and steam rooms but now available from as little as £8 a month.

Said Gerard McCarthy of Dalesauna; “In these harsher economic times we wanted to do something to offer improved service payment terms.”

Dalesauna will be on: Stand P180

NEW STYLE SPATA STAND SET TO REACH OUT TO COMMERCIAL SECTOR

A new style SPATA stand at LIW this year will reflect the association’s enthusiasm to reach out to a commercial pool and spa audience.

The association is also hosting an education programme at the NEC focusing on key aspects of the needs of larger pool operators.

Said SPATA Managing Director Chris Hayes: “SPATA attends LIW to support the members who exhibit at the show and to offer something to the commercial sector of the market. We also want it to be a focal point for the sector.”

The new stand, which organisers have described as a ‘pavilion’, will be a focus point for the 20 or so specialist companies exhibiting at the NEC. In recent years the education programme organised by SPATA has set out to offer information on key issues in the pool and spa market and has included sessions on ‘Meet the Expert’ and on implications of new legislation.
