BRITISH ENGINEERING: WORLDWIDE SUCCESS

Triogen’s name is synonymous with quality engineering in its UV systems. A SPATA member for 20 years, the company is now achieving huge success on the worldwide market

T

riogen is one of the world’s leading design and manufacturing companies, specialising in

ozone and UV systems for swimming pools – from residential through to Olympic size.

Twenty five years of experience is based on getting a lot of things right but one of the major platforms of success from the Glasgow based business is what Phil Castle, Regional Sales Manager, calls “good old fashioned British engineering”.

Quality has been a vital ingredient as Triogen expands its customer base worldwide to the point where overseas sales to the Middle East, Far East, the United States, Australia, New Zealand and many more has become a strategic success story.

“Both in the UK and overseas, the quality of our engineering has allowed us to expand significantly. In a specialised field like this one if you can serve your customers properly, visit them, stay in touch, deliver on time then you’ll achieve success,” adds Phil.

The origins of Triogen go back to the ozone division of Barr and Wray, one of the UK’s leading swimming pool and aqua leisure providers. Triogen was formed in the late 1980s as a specialised swimming pool treatment business. It is now part of the worldwide Degremont water treatment group.

Due to continuing expansion, Triogen moved its Craigton, Glasgow, manufacturing and distributor facility to East Kilbride

and a unit three times larger than their existing premises last year. Triogen manufactures a full range of ozone and UV systems for all types of swimming pool applications, as well as for industrial and municipal water treatment. All products come with full warranty and after sales back up and Triogen can offer commissioning services worldwide. Medium pressure UV systems are becoming a popular choice for swimming pool treatment which are available within Triogen’s equipment range, as well as a specialised range of combined UV and ozone systems.

Triogen still feels that ozone provides the best possible pool water treatment due to its superior oxidation power and ozone remains the system of choice in the Middle and Far East. All the ozone systems supplied for swimming pool water treatment are designed to operate at negative pressure for public building safety.

For other water treatment applications, Triogen supplies a full range of positive pressure ozone generators manufactured by Degrémont Technologies–Ozonia, and a complete range of low and medium pressure UV systems specifically designed for applications in the water treatment industry. Water quality in the pool is the key to Triogen’s business whether for its ozone systems for smaller residential pools through to hotel pools and UV systems in

commercial and even Olympic size facilities. All sizes of pools fall within Triogen’s expertise.

Due to the wide range of products and treatment options available using Triogen equipment, the company helps and supports consultants, water treatment companies or end users as to which type of product is best suited for their swimming pool project to ensure final customer satisfaction. The market for UV systems throughout Britain is still growing both in demand and competitively. “The economic return for UV isn’t always the key factor. Yes, of course there are savings, but UV as an investment in a pool gives better air quality, better water quality and a better environment for swimming. It provides altogether a healthier option. In line with this, we are currently launching the new, cost effective TR range of low pressure UV systems for the disinfection of private pools, spas and fish ponds along with a new range of medium pressure in-line UV systems for commercial pools later this year,” adds Phil.

Triogen have been enthusiastic SPATA members for 20 years. “It is important that we are members of the association and over the years it has helped and supported us. Only recently we were in Dundee for one of their water treatment systems training days which our staff found really useful,” added Phil.

He said that as members, they were aware of a stronger marketing emphasis to the association. “The development of PIP, the more proactive marketing side, better information flow through e - newsletters and marketing toolkits all seems to us to show that the association is moving in the right direction. In the past it has been very helpful to us as a member company for legal and contractual issues as they arise.” spn
