1. At Chiswick Town Hall in London on March 26, Angling Auctions will offer ‘The Holy Grail’ of fishing reels. This multiplying winch, with a fit manual level wind, is believed to be the original model made by pioneer London maker Onesimus Ustonson. It is thought to be the earliest surviving winch by a recorded maker, and the multiplying mechanism was advertised on Ustonson’s trade card in the late 1760s. The c.1762 winch forms part of the final offering from the Graham Turner Collection, author of Fishing Tackle: A Collectors Guide. Estimate £25,000- 35,000. Contact 020 8749 4175

2. Known affectionately as Rosie, this rare Hutchings Concord Romany-style caravan will go under the hammer at Surrey auctioneers Ewbank Clarke Gammon Wellers’ spring sale on March 16. Built in 1919 by caravanning pioneer Bertram Hutchings, founder of the Winchester Caravan Company, it is one of only two of this type to be produced with pneumatic tyres and spring ratings, which would enable it to be towed by a car. The caravan was restored in 2002 and is estimated at £10,000-15,000. Contact 01483 223 101

It is accompanied by a letter of provenance written by one of the actor’s nephews stating that his mother, Catherine Jenkins, remembered her brother wearing it.
