related before, Malzy and I had changed our phone service from FairPoint to MetroCast because of the decline at FairPoint. But faced with these interrup- tions to our phone service, I have not adapted well to the notion of having no phone line available for a medical or fire emergency. After weighing our limited phone options and alter- natives, Malzy and I de- cided to get a TracFone for our emergency use only.

me a few days to pick up steam, but my mind is clearer and my balance
is better. I am looking forward to regaining the strength and stamina in my legs following surgery on them. For the first time in years I have some optimism regarding my future. A lot of medical professionals have helped make all my improvement possible, but it certainly is my surgeon who may put me on the fast track to- wards a new life. Patients are treated like royalty at the Catholic Medical Center. I also owe my optimism
to my old friend Malzy and to Betty Jane. They
have helped make every- thing that is good happen for me. (No other family member has stepped for- ward to be of any help.) Except of course for Diab- lo. Diablo is my steadfast friend and I’m told he was quite despondent on the night of the 23rd

Jane and Malzy did their best to console him, but he really wasn’t himself until he could sleep with me on Christmas Eve! Good old Diablo. Recently, again on a Friday night, our Internet Connection and phone ser- vice dropped dead. As I’ve

The cost of the phone and its connection works out to $10.00 per month, a reasonable sum for a ser- vice that’s independent of our unreliable landline. Incoming and outgoing calls are very limited at that price, but, as we plan to use it, the $10.00 fee will be our total expense. My thanks to all my well wishers who have taken
