NEW SPATA INSPECTIONS ABOUT TO BE CARRIED OUT

To find out if SPATA members continue to provide good quality pools, an inspection

service is in place to view members’ work. The next wave of inspections for installer members will be carried out by SPATA during the season. Members due to be visited by a SPATA inspector will be notified by the office and then the inspector will arrange the specific visits. Members should be reassured that the inspection process is designed to be rigorous, but supportive, with action points arising from the inspection. SPATA’s technical advice can be invaluable and can often be provided free of charge to members, although there is often a need to pay for site visits. Some non members get very defensive when SPATA is called into view a pool, but it is in SPATA’s interest to maintain good standards in the industry.

SPATA WEBSITE REVISED TO HELP LOCATE MEMBERS

The SPATA website at www.spata.co.uk has been revised to include a more interactive google map to identify SPATA members and with hyper links to members’ websites this should provide even more interest from

consumers wanting to choose a SPATA member. The member’s section will have a range of materials added to it to assist companies find out more about relevant topics affecting the industry.

SPATASHIELD SCHEME OFFERS VITAL MARKETING BENEFIT

All SPATA installer members are automatically enrolled in this scheme, once they have been approved and accepted as a qualified pool installer by SPATA. The scheme provides cover for members of the public employing SPATA members to build new domestic pools or spas where the value of work is under £150,000, but only when the member has provided signed and dated Bond and Warranty documents to their client prior to commencement of any of the physical work involved in the pool installation contract has taken place. The Bond and the Warranty Certificates must be signed and dated by the SPATA member and the customer prior to commencement of the work.

The scheme provides a Bond against a SPATA member being unable to complete a pool or spa contract and subject to the Terms and Conditions of the scheme, can pay up to £30,000 for the extra cost involved in completing the contract, by another SPATA member. The Warranty can guarantee that the construction will conform to SPATA standards, and subject to the Terms and Conditions of the scheme, can pay up to £20,000 to meet the cost of rectification within three years of completion of the contract.

Members receive a supply of Relax leaflets, outlining the scheme, to give to customers. This scheme is exclusive to SPATA installer members and we believe an attractive marketing benefit for members.
