Modern cosmetology is continually striving to find
ways to enhance the penetration of cosmetic

friendly form factor.
Advances in delivery technologies have enabled new opportunities in the
formulation of cosmeceuticals. Cosmetologists can now create
formulations with targeted, timed-release actives, enhancing the efficacy of
the treatment at the target site while preserving the stability of active
components and minimising the potential for irritation.
Active Delivery Patches
Based on iontophoresis and electro-osmosis, Power Paper's Active
Patches significantly increase the penetration of cosmetic formulations and
enhance their efficacy. Power Paper patches combine a passive delivery
mechanism for oil-soluble actives, an enhanced passive delivery
mechanism to enable an occlusion effect; and an active delivery
mechanism, in which a mild electrical current delivers water-soluble
charged and uncharged actives.
Cosmetic actives, when combined with Power Paper's active patch
technology, can thus achieve a major objective of modern cosmetology,
namely the penetration to the epidermis of both lipid-soluble and water-
soluble actives.
All formulations tested exhibited wrinkle depth improvement of at least 20
Merits of this technology include: per cent or higher with the combined treatment of the cosmetic formulation
• Non-invasive techniques as a substitute for chemical enhancers with Power Paper's patch.
• Lower variability of delivery An average wrinkle depth improvement value of 47.2 per cent was
• Delivery of lipid-soluble and water-soluble actives in the same treatment measured for the combined treatment.
• Reduced quantities of expensive actives
• Condensed frequency and duration of treatment Currently available Power Patches
