I’ve worked for South African Airways for nearly 20 years, including cabin crew, reservations team leader and airport team leader, and working in various roles has helped me understand the airline environment and how fabulous the new Terminal 2 is.
My main focus is to ensure South African Airways maintains its impeccable punctuality records, on-time departures and seamless arrivals, overseeing check-in and our service providers and crew.
But my role as duty manager has also allowed me to interact with many diverse people on a daily basis, as well as welcoming high-profile customers including the great Nelson Mandela.
My job is dynamic and exciting, and I love using the new technology in Terminal 2. Working with fellow Star Alliance members has ensured greater consistency, and the new self-service check-in and baggage drop has helped us put our customers in control.
The new terminal building is so light and airy, and this improved process gives our customers more time to relax after check in.
Highlights last year - South African Airways is the official airline partner of the South African rugby team, the Springboks, so it was a great pleasure to bring the team into London for the Rugby World Cup and fly them home after an exciting tournament and their semi-final appearance.
