News and Notes

The 2015 Three-Position Airgun Junior Olympic Champi- onships held in Anniston, Alabama from June 21 – June 26 proved once again that the next wave of young talent for the National and International scene comes from hometown rifl e clubs around the country. The Three-Position Airgun Junior Olympic Championships are held yearly, switching between venues in Ohio at the Camp Perry CMP North location, and the Anniston, Alabama CMP South location. The top fi nisher in the Precision category is named to the USA Shooting Na- tional Junior team, and is presented with the coveted Team USA jacket.

Individual and team successes fi lled the Civilian Marks- manship Program’s air rifl e hall as two National Champions were crowned after a rigorous fi ltering-qualifi cation from state to national level. Samantha Peterson (Ham Lake, Minnesota) claimed the National title for precision, scoring a 593/600 in Qualifi cation. Two other competitors scored a 593 in Qualifi cation: Trace Haynes (Hazlehurst, Georgia) and Sarah Sutton (Oak Harbor, Ohio). Peterson found herself atop the podium after gaining 102.6 over the 10-shot stand- ing Final, putting her one point above second and third. Meike Drewell (Austin, Texas) won silver after fi nishing sec- ond in the Final, moving Sutton into the bronze position.
