New 3.3V 4x10 display
M
MS Electronics Ltd has available an exceptionally versatile line of DOG alphanumeric and graphic
displays. (Display-On-Glass) The latest addition is the new 4x10 (line x char) EA DOGS104-A, high-contrast easy-to-read STN and FSTN display. Viewing area 33x12mm. With double height character option the display transforms into a 2 x 10 or 3 x 10 display. The integrated SSD1803A controller offers 3/4-wire SPI and 2-wire I²C interfaces. Selection of 3 fonts: Cyrillic, English-Japanese and European. Supply voltage is +3.3V without the need for a negative voltage. A typical current of only 440µA (with LED backlight off) makes it ideal for battery powered, hand-held applications. Display and optional backlights are “mix & match”; There are 3 display matrix variants available, FSTN black/white positive - transflective and reflective and STN blue/white negative. There are 3 different LED backlight: amber, dual yellow-green/red and a trio green/red/white. The dual and trio colour backlights are ideal for applications where a normal (green) or warning (red) status indication is required.

he German component distribution market closes the second quarter of 2015 with slight growth. The turnover of the FBDi member companies in Germany increased by 2.4% to 772 million. Euro; orders showed an increase of nearly 9% to 788 million Euro. Concerning the technologies there is no changes. Semiconductors increased again by 3.7% to 540 million Euro, which corresponds to a 70% share of the total market. Passive components grew slightly to 108 million Euro, representing a share of 14%. The electromechanical sector shows a similar picture, having declined by 3.1% to nearly 75 million Euro, which is a share of 10%. Displays show an increase of 12% to about 23 million Euro, representing nearly 3% of the market. And power supplies (batteries, accumulators, converters) rose by 15% to 18.5 million Euro (2.5% share of the total market).
T
"After a mixed first quarter all segments are back on a growth and show a rising booking situation, the book-to-bill ratio is also positive with 1.02", says Goerg Steinberger, Chairman of the Board of the FBDi association. Steinberger is expecting a single digit growth for 2015, as the exchange rate fluctuations weaken and European national economies will recover again. Only the situation in Greece remains open. Also, the situation in China is difficult to assess. Due to the weak stock prices the purchasing power remain lower, which might
compensate the
weakening export due to domestic demand. Bank loans for the Chinese ‘Mittelstand’ will, if at all, only be slowly allocated. The banking world is awaiting the impact of the stock decline and of the governmental countermeasures. Additionally, the economic crisis in Russia is becoming noticeable.

New range of Hipot and Insulation Resistance testers T
elonic Instruments have introduced a new range of Hipot (Flash) and Insulation Resistance testers manufactured by Japan based Kikusui. Designated the TOS5300 the three models in the range are designed for use in Withstanding Voltage and Insulation Resistance testing to help ensure the safety of Electrical / Electronic components / equipment. Incorporating and innovative PWM amplifier that achieves high stability and has an input voltage regulation of.3%. The series offer rise and fall time control of the test voltage and a stable output which is unaffected by mains voltage variations, plus the ability to select 50 or 60Hz test frequency. Upper and lower current limits can be set within the range of 0.01mA to 110mA in AC mode and 0.01mA to 11mA in DC mode. AC test voltage is settable from 0.05kV to 5kV. D.C test voltages can be varied from 0 to 6kV. All models will operate from any global AC input voltages and frequencies; and are equipped with a USB interface. Also available for hire.
