Thanks to the tremendous partnership of the NCGA, NCPGA and Capital Insur- ance Group, the quality of these tournaments has been recognized by the American Junior Golf Association, which awards performance-based entry status to winners of all boys and girls championship flights. The Players of the Year were decided after the JTNC’s Tour Championship in July at Poppy Hills.

2014 Boys Player of the Year: Josh McCarthy Even though 2013 Player of the
Year Justin Suh improved on his winning points total by nearly 500 points, it was Josh McCarthy who captured the 2014 honor. McCarthy finished with a record 2,689 points, winning five events and finishing runner-up an ad- ditional four times. McCarthy never finished worse than a tie for seventh in his 15 events. McCarthy also finished second in the NCGA/ CIF Northern California High School Champion- ships. Suh won
four times, finished second twice and third another two times in his 13 events. Suh’s biggest wins include the CIF State High School Champion- ship and the NCGA Junior Boys Championship.

2014 Girls Player of the Year: Sabrina Iqbal Sabrina Iqbal capped off the best
season in the history of the Junior Tour with a four-stroke win at the Tour Championship. Iqbal piled up nine wins and three runner-up finishes to rack up a record 4,003 points in 24 events. The 13-year-old freshman at
Pioneer High was more than 1,100 points better than second-place Nealimi Yoh, and never had a finish outside the top 10. Yoh had an outstanding season
herself, winning three times, include the California Women’s Junior Amateur. Yoh’s point total would have been good enough to beat three-time Junior Tour Player of the Year Casie Cathrea last season.
