Photo by Hans Rosemond Together since April 2012, Alexa Scimeca and Christopher Knierim have experienced a whirlwind of highs and lows. They won the title at their fi rst two events as a team (Coupe de Nice and the Midwestern Sectional Championships), were assigned to a Grand Prix event in their fi rst season and won the silver medal at their fi rst U.S. Championships. Last season, after falling short of making the Olympic team, Scimeca and Knierim not only committed to another four years on the ice, but to the rest of their lives off of it. Writer Amy Rosewater sat down with the happy couple to discuss their relationship, the proposal and how it all plays into their performance. Their story starts on page 22.
