Window pains Story: Windowless aircraft plan
to improve efficiency Absolute horror! Airlines have reduced oxygen supply to save money and now want to ship us like cattle – steerage more like. No way would I fly with no windows. I would pay extra to travel with an airline that treats us as passengers. ● Sus

Boarding is issue Story: Royal Caribbean claims
record check-in for Quantum ships All sounds genuinely very exciting. However, I’d say the time saving at check-in is up for debate. My experience of boarding ships at Southampton’s City and Ocean terminals is of backlogs due to security rather than check-in. I think Anthem of the Seas will face the same problem, as will P&O Cruises’ Britannia. Unless they sort this out for these new big ships then all the much-vaunted new-to- cruise passengers will be turned off cruise on their first trip. ● Kevin
Grand UK Holidays Can I correct an error about Grand
UK Holidays that appeared in last week’s Travel Weekly. You reported that we had sold out our 2014-15 winter season. BHX charges
Birmingham is probably the only airport which charges you to drop off passengers. And then it gets the local police to harass anyone brave enough to try dropping off outside of its ‘fleecing’ zone. ● Mike Travel Weekly would welcome a reply from Birmingham airport

Stories: ‘Thomas Cook: We don’t plan to close stores as we did last year’; and ‘Thomas Cook seeks right mix’
There are two ways to read/interpret this. Either Cook intends to keep its store network as it is now; or, by saying it has “no plans to reduce numbers next year as it did in 2013”, it means it is not going to make huge reductions but will make reductions. And what’s its plans for the remaining call centres? Two are getting a revamp; the rest appear to be out in the cold. ● Amazedballs
The review is just for the concept stores. But as Thomas Cook’s year-end is in September, it wouldn’t surprise me if there are more branch closures on the cards. ● Carolatanne
