The Carlyle Group to sell its shares in Medical Park Group


Global alternative asset manager The Carlyle Group (NASDAQ:CG) has announced it has entered into a definitive agreement to sell its 40 percent stake in Medical Park, a Turkish healthcare provider, to funds advised by Turkven. The other shareholders, Sancak Group and Usta Group, have also agreed to partially sell their holdings alongside The Carlyle Group, amounting to a majority sale. The transaction is subject to regulatory approvals and other customary closing conditions.


Since making the investment in 2009 from its MENA Fund, The Carlyle Group has worked with the management and other investment partners to double the turnover and increase the number of hospitals from 13 to 18, with approximately 11,000 employees in Turkey.

YükselKarkınKüçük Attorney Partnership and DLA Piper Turkey completed the financing for the landmark US$4 billion Third Bosphorus Bridge Project. We acted as the sponsors' (IC Holding and Astaldi) international and local law advisor in respect of the financing of the design construction, maintenance and repair of Third Bosphorus Bridge and Northern Marmara Motorway. That included English law governed finance documents, Turkish and English law governed security documents and an implementation contract direct agreement and debt assumption agreement entered into with the KGM administration and Treasury respectively.


This deal was led by head of Finance and Projects Department Muharrem Küçük, partner Tamsyn Mileham at the same department.


The Project is one of the most important BOT Projects which is financed by 6 leading Turkish banks. The Project is one of the few projects in the market covered under debt assumption of the Treasury.
