Home Instead expands its presence in the Scottish market

Award-winning home care franchise Home Instead Senior Care is expanding its presence in Scotland, opening an additional 30 offices throughout the country over the next few years. The recent introduction of self-directed support in Scotland is welcomed by Home Instead, as it will enable people to exercise greater choice and control over the care and support they receive. The changes have the potential to transform the experiences of thousands of older people and their families, allowing them to take the funding they are entitled to in lieu of services from their local council. By using the funding towards the cost of the tailored services provided by Home Instead, it will enable them to truly

maintain their independence and dignity. Trevor Brocklebank, CEO and co-founder of Home Instead Senior Care, commented: “Home Instead Senior Care offers an exciting opportunity for people interested in running their own successful business, while also making a difference in their local community at the same time. Scotland is a key growth area for Home Instead. We opened our first office in Scotland, based in Edinburgh, in 2011 and have since opened two additional offices in the Glasgow and Lothian areas. We are planning to open another 30 franchise offices throughout Scotland over next few years, including areas such as Aberdeen, Stirling, Dundee and Inverness.”

The Franchising Centre to sponsor 2014 bfa conference

The Franchising Centre is pleased to announce that it will again be the main sponsor of the British Franchise Association’s annual conference on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th June at Heythrop Park Resort in Oxfordshire. Chairman Brian Duckett said: “The Franchising Centre and the bfa have always had the common goal of raising professional standards within the UK franchising sector, so we are delighted to be able to support the Association at their main event of the year.”

He went on to say: “Of course, it also gives us the opportunity to mix with some of the cream of the UK franchise sector and tell our story. Whilst all will know of us, not all will know of the range of services we offer to help good, well-established franchisors develop their businesses and break through to the next level of growth and profitability.” Amongst the services that The Franchising

Centre will be showcasing at the Conference will be their unique Value Builder process. A world first, The Franchising Centre has taken proven methods used widely across other industries and adapted them for use by

franchisors. This software-driven benchmarking programme can guide a franchisor towards increasing the profits and value of their business as well as preparing the business for sale should an approach be received. According to Brian: “Rather like that of their franchisees, franchisors’ businesses can have a fairly predictable life cycle. Typically, an exciting early growth phase can be followed by maturity and even stagnation. Our Value Builder service offers a tried-and-trusted method used in many other sectors to take their business to the next stage. “Value Builder looks at every aspect of

growing and operating a franchise business, identifies areas for action and produces an action plan designed to enhance the areas known to be important to would-be buyers of a franchisor business. The process can take just weeks, concentrating on the quick wins to rapidly improve the profitability of the business or it can be a longer-term project to make sure the business is in tip-top shape for sale when the time comes – it is never too early to start preparing!”
