Wilson Staff celebrates hat-trick of Tour wins

W

ilson Staff recently celebrated three Tour victories with its irons and wedges. Kevin Streelman made PGA Tour history when he fired

seven consecutive birdies in the final seven holes to win the Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands, while there were also triumphs for fellow Wilson Staff players William Harold on the Challenge Tour and Stiggy Hodgson on the Hotelplanner.com PGA EuroPro Tour. “Each victory adds to the many achievements with Wilson

Staff clubs over the last 100 years and we look forward to continued success with all of our Tour players in the future,” said Doug Wright, Commercial Director of Wilson Golf in Europe. Using Wilson Staff FG Tour V2 irons (3-9) and FG Tour TC

wedges (48° & 54°), Streelman became the first man ever to finish a PGA Tour round with seven consecutive birdies as he produced a final round of 64 to edge out Sergio Garcia and KJ Choi by one shot. His back-nine total of 28 matched a record for the Connecticut course. Streelman, a native of Chicago where Wilson Golf is based,

broke a 58-year record for consecutive birdies to finish a PGA Tour event – an accolade previously held by Mike Souchak, who recorded six birdies to close out a round at the 1956 St. Paul Open. “When you're in the zone like that, when athletes talk about being in the zone, everything is really slow, and it's really clear and concise, and it's very vivid,” said the Wilson Staff Advisory Member, who also used FG Tour V2 irons to win his first PGA Tour title at the Tampa Bay Championship last year. Meanwhile, Englishman William Harold, the overnight leader

of the Challenge Tour’s Belgian Open, held his nerve on the final day with a five-under-par 66 and a playoff victory over Germany’s Florian Fritsch. Harold – who plays with Wilson Staff FG Tour V2 irons and FG Tour TC wedges – recorded an impressive 22 birdies over the four rounds. Another Englishman, Stiggy

Paul Boguslavsky, operations

manager of Playgolf World added: “We are very pleased to be the official coaching partner to the 10th annual London Golf Show and to be part of such a well-established and highly thought of show at such a great venue. We believe this collaboration will showcase our highly professional approach to coaching as well as giving all visitors a taste of Playgolf throughout the three days.”

Hodgson, was the star of the show on the last day of the PGA EuroPro Tour’s HotelPlanner.com Championship. With his Wilson Staff FG Tour M3 irons and FG Tour TC wedges, the former Walker Cup player posted an eight-under par 63 to force a playoff with Elliot Saltman and Luke Joy, where yet another birdie clinched the title.
