Soldiers Truck Through Rodeo

Soldiers of the 204th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, tested their communication, maintenance, and medical readiness in a truck rodeo at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, April 30.

“It’s important for soldiers to be well-rounded because you never know where you are going to find yourself and in what situation you are going to find yourself,” says Army Sgt. Hannah Kobit, an instructor for medical skills.

Soldiers worked together to complete three themed lanes as they received grades on time and competence. In the maintenance lane, soldiers performed a quick maintenance check and pushed a truck 200 meters; to test medical readiness, they called in a nine-line medical evaluation and transported a simulated casualty; and in the communication lane, soldiers assembled an antenna.

“Everyone has to work together,” says Army Spc. Shameen Bonnick. “It builds esprit de corps.”

This will be the last truck rodeo the “Rough Rider” battalion hosts before redeploying this summer.

GOLF CLASSIC

Despite a rainy start, the MOAA/Jeff Peck Memorial Golf Classic held May 7 at Westfields Golf Club in Clifton, Va., was well-attended, and sponsors and guests raised nearly $58,000 for the MOAA Scholarship Fund.

Special guests included CWO4 Bill Chatfield, USMCR (Ret); former MOAA President Lt. Gen. Mike Nelson, USAF (Ret); and MOAA scholarship recipient Jacob Brown.
